Life's a bitch... rise above.
In my life, I have always done things the hardest way possible. Never smooth. I used to despise this in myself. Although, trying to stand my ground in a hurricane while being knocked on my ass repeatedly never made me do it differently.
Adversity is my teacher. Here are her 2 essential lessons:
1. Life's a bitch and she does not discriminate. Everyone's got a story and nobody's life is perfect. Shit happens. The difference is, some people either learn to surf hurricanes or they get knocked on their ass. The people that look like their life is grand; I assure you, they are just one bad ass #stormsurfer that makes it look easy.
2. Rise above. Although quite simple, this requires rigorous practice. Stop handling life all at once and start making the highest call that's right in front of you. In any given moment there are options. Rising above is not how we behave in a crisis. It is the sum total of consistent actions on a day to day basis. Being a #spiritualbadass means learning to ride the hurricane with grace.
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
- Bob Dylan
Life is inevitable. Grace is optional. Rise above.
